Stone houses and bougainvillea in a traditional Cypriot village near Paphos

Paphos hinterland

Traditional Paphos Villages

Stone-built hill villages inland from the coast, with tavernas, wineries and slower afternoons.

A short drive inland from Paphos the landscape lifts into vineyards and stone villages where much of daily life still happens around the square.

Kathikas and Arodes sit on the wine route above the Akamas; Omodos and Lofou lie further east in the Troodos foothills. Most have at least one taverna, and many have small family wineries.
